AHOY!
This year, once again, we will see each other at the Festival of Sails in the beautiful and sunny Greece. We will be having fun for 8 days! We start on September 22nd and finish on the 29th. During this time, we will compete in the regatta, taste a lot of great regional dishes, swim in the warm, azure sea and visit several Greek islands. You have to be there!
This year’s Greek edition of the ISSA Festival of Sails differed from any other ISSA FoS as the Greek gods, probably Poseidon and the four gods of winds, organized a party (or a quarrel) in the same time. The beginning was quiet, nice, warm and sunny and we had a fun time sailing to Aegina – the pistachio kingdom, to explore the pistachio factory. Than however things came to a sudden change as Greece was struck by a hurricane-like storm called Zorba. In certain regions of the Peloponnese coast wind force was 11B. A lot of boats suffered. However, as properly trained ISSA sailors we have checked the weather forecast and have chosen our route wisely. Sailing was rough but safe and actually even more fun. We have found a good shelter in Korfos, far north from the center of the hurricane and we were forced to spend there more time than we anticipated. Fortunately good food and even better company of friends from all around Europe kept us in good mood. Overall the 2018 ISSA Festival of Sails in Greece was totally awesome. This year’s Greek edition of the ISSA Festival of Sails differed from any other ISSA FoS as the Greek gods, probably Poseidon and the four gods of winds, organized a party (or a quarrel) in the same time.
